Gemma Mengual, famed swimmer from Spain, joins campaign to diagnose and prevent lung disease

MADRID, Spain — Gemma Mengual, Olympic medal winner who has won more medals for synchronized swimming than any athlete in Spain, has joined the Lovexair Foundation to promote the prevention and early diagnosis of respiratory diseases, such as COPD, asthma and Alpha-1.

During her 26 years as an athlete in synchronized swimming, Mengual has won 46 medals from the Olympic Games, World and European championships. Her outstanding achievement is 20 medals in the World Championships, as well as silver medals in the Beijing Olympic Games.

During filming of the video she made for the Lovexair Foundation, Mengual highlighted the importance of air in her career as a sportsperson, for everybody, but especially those affected by respiratory disease. “Air is what drives us, moves our body and our minds,” she says. “Air gives us energy.”
